The Motivation for the Institute
An example of what led us to begin . . .
One afternoon, after work, I was praying in the front pew of a Church. An unfamiliar man approached me and began to talk to me. It is hard to put into words how sad and lost he was about something Pope Francis had said or done, and he was worried he was losing the Church he cherished. I'm not sure how much I assuaged his fear in the few minutes he stayed and talked with me but I also knew that he is not alone and that there are many others like him.

It's difficult for most without significant philosophical and theological training to wade through the often-muddy waters that today's pastoral landscape provides. Who does one trust? Who does one avoid? I have spent years spent years studying the wisdom of the saints, above all St. Thomas, Universal Doctor of the Church. I want to bring this treasure of our Catholic tradition to people to help them change their lives and better order it to Christian perfection. I've seen so many people wandering in the wilderness that the Church is today, lost, and unsure about the best things to do for themselves and for their children. The Tradition of saints has rich wisdom, but few have been introduced to its depths.

When shared, even in small doses, the wisdom of the saints and the Catholic tradition often astounds people. And like the rich man in Scripture beseeching Lazarus for a drop of water to quench his burning thirst, people thirst for the saving wisdom that the Church offers. In this case, however, people can still receive such drops. Ideally, even they would receive not just drops, but cups or pitchers of water. But one must drink slowly and so it takes considerable time to receive such Wisdom. Many can only absorb these pearls of wisdom bit by bit.
And so here I offer this opportunity to receive the riches of the Church's wisdom in a way that fits into people's busy lives so that they too can benefit from it.
Helping those seeking out the truth

Thirsting for Wisdom
Aquinas Institute has transformed my understanding of Catholic tradition. Highly recommend for deepening faith.
